In this assignment this is m first time working in photoshop. We were tasked to take this picture of this car (by Noelle Jacobs) and edit it to enhance it. When working on it I ran into some problems and got a bit frustrated but I worked through these problems. In the original photo it had some light reflections that I would a little distracting so I edited the, out using the clone stamp tool. I learned some of the tools and how to use them, so I can use them in future projects.

This week I decided to shoot pictures of nature. On Saturday there was a lot of rain but there was a passage of time where it stopped and the sun peaked through, so I decided to go to a small pond to shoot some picture. While at the pond I struggled getting the right angle, which resulted in me getting pretty muddy. In this photoshoot I played with the focal point and the aperture of it, also using the rule of thirds. ISO 250, f/5.3, 1/160 sec When editing this I turned up the saturation ever-so-slightly. I also turned up the contrast between the background and the plant and messed with the highlights and shadows.
In this assignment I decided to chose to shoot people. I spent an afternoon taking pictures of my best friend, which is a difficult yet very fun task. What I experienced was while shooting was the more pictures I took the more inspiration that I got for more and more pictures. What I learned was actually applying the techniques that we learned in class to my pictures, as I played around with shutter speed and aperture . ISO 100, 18mm, F11, 1/250 sec What I did during the editing process was I warmed up the colors a bit, since it is fall time now and I thought it was fitting, I turned down the exposure to showcase the sun beaming in the background but maintained the highlights and shadows to balance each other out.
For my first shooting assignment I have chosen to do the focus on the subject of people. While shooting this assignment I will hope to learn about different poses to do to help with the mood of the picture. I also hope to "get to know" my camera more by messing with the different modes.
Some photos that I found online that I will be taking inspiration for are... Photo Number 1 I really like this photo because of all the different SPECIFIC DETAILS, such as the little flowers in her hair and the small nature in the background. Photo Number 2 I really like this photo because of the HIGHLIGHTS and SHADOWS that fall on her face. I also like the simple rose that added an element that you didn't know was needed. Photo Number 3 I really like this photo because of the element of the water. I think it is very unique and different than what I have seen. In this assignment we were tasked to go out and shoot some pictures that represent the 11 types of composition. Although there are many more types of composition we only chose the ones that we felt were most important. The ones we selected are color, lines, depth of field, balance, framing, pattern, perspective, rule of thirds, space, symmetry, and texture. In this assignment I learned more about using my camera in ways that I did not know before, such as different modes to shoot in the get these different angels, I learned about editing/ using Lightroom and how to use it to enhance your photo, and not to go overboard. I created this blog and learned how to use it to share my work.
Hello, my name is Lily Derksen and I am currently a high school student that enjoys digital photography. I have four siblings, three sisters and a little brother. I have 3 dogs that are named Duke, Phoenix, and Molly. I am also on the varsity cheer team. I decided to take the digital photography class because I wanted to further my skill in shooting photos. Why I got interested in this class was I would always go and have different photoshoots with my father whenever we would travel somewhere interesting or just be at home.
